Synopsis

Capricorn Plaza is an infamous apartment building in the heart of downtown Montreal. Built in the 1960s, the building has always had a reputation for being haunted. But it's not just ghosts that inhabit Capricorn Plaza. The building is also home to a dark and disturbing secret.

Michel Nadeau's novel, Capricorn Plaza, tells the story of a group of tenants who come to live in the building. Each of them has their own reasons for coming to Capricorn Plaza, but they all soon find themselves drawn into the building's dark past.

As the tenants begin to explore the building, they uncover a series of strange and disturbing events. They hear strange noises, see strange shadows, and experience unexplained phenomena. It soon becomes clear that Capricorn Plaza is not a safe place. The building is haunted by something evil, and it's only a matter of time before it claims its next victims.

Characters

The characters in Capricorn Plaza are complex and well-developed. Each of them has their own unique story to tell, and they all play a vital role in the novel's plot.

  • Sarah is a young woman who has just moved into Capricorn Plaza. She's a single mother with a young son, and she's looking for a fresh start. But Sarah soon finds herself drawn into the building's dark past.
  • Tom is a middle-aged man who has lived in Capricorn Plaza for many years. He's a loner who keeps to himself, but he knows more about the building's history than anyone else. Tom is the one who tells Sarah about the building's dark secret.
  • Maria is an elderly woman who has lived in Capricorn Plaza for most of her life. She's a kind and gentle woman, but she's also afraid of the building. Maria knows that something evil is happening in Capricorn Plaza, and she's afraid that it's only a matter of time before it claims another victim.

Setting

The setting of Capricorn Plaza is as atmospheric and haunting as the characters. The building is a labyrinth of dark hallways and eerie rooms. It's a place where the past is always present, and where the secrets of the past can never be truly buried.

Nadeau's vivid descriptions of Capricorn Plaza bring the building to life. He captures the building's oppressive atmosphere and its sense of lurking danger. Capricorn Plaza is a place where anything can happen, and where the reader is never quite sure what to expect.

Themes

Capricorn Plaza explores a number of dark and disturbing themes, including the nature of evil, the power of secrets, and the fragility of human life.

Nadeau shows us that evil is not always something that is external to us. It can also be found within us, waiting for the right moment to strike. The characters in Capricorn Plaza are all haunted by their own personal demons, and it's only a matter of time before those demons come back to claim them.

Nadeau also shows us the power of secrets. Secrets can destroy lives, and they can also lead to violence. The characters in Capricorn Plaza are all hiding something, and it's only a matter of time before those secrets come to light.

Finally, Nadeau shows us the fragility of human life. Death can come at any moment, and it can strike without warning. The characters in Capricorn Plaza are all aware of this, and it's this awareness that gives the novel its sense of urgency and suspense.

Capricorn Plaza is a gripping and atmospheric novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. Michel Nadeau has created a world that is both terrifying and fascinating, and he has peopled it with characters who are as complex and flawed as they are sympathetic.

If you're a fan of psychological thrillers or horror fiction, then you need to read Capricorn Plaza. It's a novel that will haunt you and stay with you long after you've finished it.
