The Heartbreaking True Story of Britain's Last Child Migrant
In the aftermath of World War II, thousands of children were sent from Britain to Australia, Canada, and New Zealand as part of a government-sponsored child migration scheme. These children were often separated from their families and sent to live in陌生国家and with陌生人. Many of them experienced prejudice and discrimination, and some were even abused.
The Heartbreaking True Story of Britain's Last Child Migrant tells the story of one such young woman, Margaret Humphreys. In 1958, at the age of four, Margaret was sent from England to Australia. She was separated from her mother and siblings, and sent to live with a foster family in Perth. Margaret faced prejudice and discrimination from her foster family and from the wider community. She was often made to feel like an outsider, and she was bullied and teased because of her accent.

Despite the challenges she faced, Margaret never gave up hope. She worked hard in school and eventually went on to university. After graduating, she worked as a teacher and social worker. In the 1980s, Margaret began to research the child migration scheme. She was shocked to learn about the abuse and neglect that many child migrants had suffered. Margaret was determined to help other child migrants find their families and learn the truth about their past.
In 1988, Margaret founded the Child Migrants Trust. The Trust provides support to child migrants and their families, and it also helps to raise awareness of the child migration scheme. Margaret's work has helped to change the lives of thousands of child migrants. She has helped them to find their families, learn the truth about their past, and find healing and closure.
The Heartbreaking True Story of Britain's Last Child Migrant is a powerful and moving account of one young woman's experience as a child migrant in the 1950s. This is a story of resilience, determination, and the power of the human spirit.
